Frontier Motor Liability Insurance must be taken for a foreign registered vehicle, brought to Finland for temporary use, if:

  • the vehicle is registered in a country outside the green card system, or
  • the vehicle does not have a valid green card.

If the validity of the green card expires before the vehicle leaves the country, Frontier Motor Liability Insurance must be taken for the remaining time.

The minimum period of validity of Frontier Motor Liability Insurance policies is 30 days and the maximum period of validity is one year.

No Frontier Motor Liability Insurance is granted for a vehicle registered in an EEA country. Frontier Motor Liability Insurance is valid in the whole EEA and in Switzerland. However, any personal injuries sustained by the driver of a vehicle covered by Frontier Motor Liability Insurance are only compensated only if the accident has occurred in Finland, Sweden or Norway.

Frontier Motor Liability Insurance does not accrue insurance or claims history, nor does it qualify for bonus.
