Motor liability insurance is obligatory

Insurance of a motor vehicle is a legal obligation

If a vehicle is registered for use in traffic, it must be covered by a valid motor liability insurance. Read more about the obligation to insure the vehicle.

The Motor Insurance Act was revised in 2024. The changes entered into force on 1 June 2024. The legal reform is based on the national implementation of Directive (EU) 2021/2118 (“Motor Insurance Directive”).
