Before heading off for a trip abroad it is worth checking with your insurance company the validity and insurance cover of your vehicle in your destination country.

Finland belongs to the European motor liability insurance system, which means that motor liability insurance is valid as a rule only in Europe and a few African countries. The insurance is not valid, for example, in the United States or Asian countries. In European countries, motor liability insurance is compulsory but compensation practices and levels vary between countries.

Information about country-specific requirements of driving your vehicle is available from Autoliitto, the Automobile and Touring Club of Finland and its publications at autoliitto.fi/en.
